  • Electric Heating System in 6.4m x 3.8m Glasshouse – Brightwell Farm, Suffolk

Working together with the greenhouse manufacturer the customer initially wanted a Frost free electrical tubular heating system, which would help ensure plants survive and thrive the over wintering period. However, after discussions, the customer was keen to grow a wider variety of plants within the space and to also spend some time enjoying the glasshouse all year round. So an additional 2x finned tubular heaters were added to deliver a temperate system capable of delivering a 15 Degree lift from the external ambient temperature.

As part of the installation Harrier installed all the internal electrical components (IP rated distribution board, controller, motors, sockets and switches) along with the wiring and all other elements of power management within the glasshouse. The installation of the HH2 controller enabled the customer to be able to control remotely or manually the heating and automatic ventilation system in tandem providing complete control to support optimised growing.

The electric finned tubular heaters were installed to deliver efficient heat distribution and were located underneath grates (in trenches) and under benches across the space to ensure it was delivered evenly. This attention to detail was very important in this project.
