As part of a series of phased work to update the heating system/boiler and improve the energy efficiency within the production greenhouse, the team at Harrier worked closely with the gardening team at Hidcote to firstly remove old pipe from the roof of the greenhouse whilst maintaining the water heat pipework lower down before then installing thermal screens across the length (25m) of the West Zone.
The target for this phase was to maintain the flow and return system throughout the glasshouse ensuring that the temperatures required by the team to manage production ongoing could be achieved, whilst also increasing the shading within the greenhouse for those periods when the intensity of the sun can damage plants/produce.
